The docking station comes with its own anemometer, but it measures at 1.8 metres — below the fence and inside the traffic zone. At that height the wind arrives slowed by the fence, and a person or a vehicle passing nearby alters the reading.

It is not measuring wrong: it is measuring something else. It measures the wind at the height of the anemometer, not the wind the drone will meet once it climbs.

At 6.5 metres the flow is unobstructed and the measurement reflects the real flight conditions.

With no moving parts, there are no bearings to seize up with sand or ice.
